Fibromyalgia

Fibromyalgia is a chronic condition of widespread pain and profound fatigue.

The pain tends to be felt as aching or burning, often described as head to toe.  It may be worse at some times than at others.  It may also change location usually becoming more severe in parts of the body that are used the most.

The fatigue ranges from feeling tired, to the exhaustion of flue like illness.  It may come and go and people can suddenly become drained of all energy~as if someone has just " pulled the plug!"

Hello & Welcome to the Mansfield M.E Self Help Group's Website!

"Please Relax & Enjoy Yourself we are all trying to make the best of our illness and we feel we can do this better together"

The Mansfield ME Self Help Group is a local group in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire where people with M.E/CFS meet up to discuss & share with others their symptoms, experiences and everyday problems that go hand in hand when living with ME / CFS /CFIDS/ PVFS.

It is not all doom and gloom!

Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/ Encephalopathy (ME) can also be known as

The aim of the group is for us to get together and talk to other people who understand what we are going through. We provide a meeting place where people of all ages from all walks of life diagnosed with ME can come to find others like themselves and this helps us to realise that we are not alone. Although the severity varies with each individual, nobody understands better than those with these conditions how hard it is to live and to cope with all the problems we have to face and adapt to every single day.

M.E AWARENESS DAY

May 12th has now been designated as "International Awareness Day" for a number of Chronic Diseases and Syndromes

M.E. - Myalgic Encephalomyelitis
FMS - Fibromyalgia
CFS - Chronic Fatigue Syndrome
MCS/EI - Multiple Chemical Sensitivity or Environmental Illness

No matter what name you use the one thing these illnesses all have in common is a lack of awareness and most importantly a lack of funding for research.
